McKenzie Studio Glass

For 30 years, Cecil and Lisa have worked as a team, collaboratively, with each other and in concert with their chosen material, glass. Their work unites simple, classic forms and clean lines with surface treatments that include vibrant colors. The surfaces of their pieces are essentially light paintings, reminiscent of color field painting in the 1970’s.

They use ancient and traditional glassblowing techniques, dating back to the Romans, yet their style is contemporary because they can utilize a very wide palette of color while using a single furnace of clear glass. They use colored glass frits and add applications of clear lines or webbing to effect the colors on the surface, making the pieces very tactile.

They strive to create work of the highest caliber that is affordable. Their work is functional and decorative by design.
