An American Rococo Revival bed, 19th century. The bed with the incised stamp, C. Lee, denoting the Manchester, Mass. workshop of Charles Lee who crafted beds for the Southern market. The octagonal posts support a paneled headboard with a shell-carved crest, centered by a cabochon and fruit carving below, the post joined by shaped rails, each with a central cartouche. The bed height is 73″, exterior length 82 1/2, interior width 64 1/2.
