The Maine Coon Cat is known as "the gentle giant" and makes a great family pet. No one knows for certain how the Maine Coon Cat got to the U.S. but it has become one of the most popular cat breeds. It is known for the large ruff along its chest, uneven two-layer coat and long, bushy tail.
